UPSIDE DOWN FOR WINTER

UPSIDE DOWN FOR WINTER

For those of you doing our early morning classes, we don’t have to
tell you that winter is here, but we do want to remind all of our members that with Winter comes cold & flu season. Not surprising news I know!!! However, because of the year we have had so far this season brings with it some uncertainty surrounding how hard we may be hit - due to isolation and sanitizing our hands and surfaces so often.

To prime your body for winter health, we will be encouraging you to come to class
more frequently to support the lymphatic system. A workout that includes getting
your head below your heart increases circulation of lymph - a clear, watery fluid that moves through the body picking up bacteria & viruses, filtering them out via the lymph nodes.

Lymph moves by muscular contractions. So basically movement of our bodies…awesome right?! Mobility exercises, such as those incorporated into ZUU workouts are key for keeping lymph flowing...think Frogs! The movement of lymph is also affected by gravity, so any time you’re upside down or even semi upside down (yes I know those words are scary but think Polar Bear Press), lymph moves into the respiratory organs, where germs often enter the body. When you return to an upright position, gravity drains the lymph, sending it through your lymph nodes for cleansing. Boom…job done!

Well, almost…. We have some exciting things happening at Primal to incorporate
food, lifestyle changes, and spoiler alert…challenges to keep us all motivated
over these colder months ahead!

For now though, during class you’ll notice us incorporating some
extra head below heart movements so you can build up your immunity throughout
the winter & keep the common colds at bay.

Yours in good health,

Sian
